DTV Workcation/Freelance/Digital nomad

The DTV Visa is intended for digital nomads, freelancers, and long-stay visitors who wish to remain in Thailand for extended periods. It allows up to 180 days per entry and can be extended once per entry for an additional 180 days. The DTV is divided into 2 main categories:

  1. DTV – Remote Work – For digital nomads and freelancers working online for foreign companies or foreign clients only. Applicants must provide a foreign employment contract or proof of freelance/self-employed work. Working for Thai employers or Thai clients is strictly prohibited.
  2. DTV – Soft Power Activities: For applicants participating in approved long-term activities in Thailand, such as Muay Thai or sports training, cooking courses, medical treatments, or cultural or music festivals, with official confirmation from the organizer.

Applicants must be at least 20 years old and show 500,000 THB in liquid funds. Crypto currencies are not accepted. Applications must be submitted online while the applicant is outside Thailand, via the Thai embassy or consulate e-visa website, with an approximate visa fee of 10,000 THB.

Dependents may apply separately with the required supporting documents.

As of November 2025, DTV visa holders are not permitted to open Thai bank accounts. Since March 2026, there have been reports of bank accounts held by some DTV holders being frozen and closed down.
